Bahrain has appointed the local Tashgeel for Commercial Buildings Management to supervise the BD200m ($530m) expansion of Manama Central Market.
The project will include a new central market, which will be named the Capital Trade Centre. The development will also include four 28-storey office and shopping towers, car parking, a five-star hotel, a cultural centre, and a park. It is scheduled for completion by 2017.
The project was first announced in January 2008. It was delayed later that year due the global financial crisis.
