Saudi Fund for Development to provide majority of funding for the project

UAE’s National Marine Dredging Company and its Saudi partner, PC Marine Services, submitted the lowest pricing options for the dredging and reclamation works on the second phase of the North Manama Causeway and Busaiteen link road project.

The scope includes general filling, reclamation, dredging and marine works.

According to the Bahrain Tender Board, the bidders and their offer are:

  • National Marine Dredging Company (UAE) / PC Marine Services (Saudi Arabia) JV: $20m (option 1); $14.4m (option 2); $16.23m (option 3); $12.77m (option 4)
  • Boskalis Westminster al-Rushaid (Saudi Arabia) / Boskalis Westminster Contracting: $18.35m
  • Sixco (UAE)/ Al Mutawa (UAE) / Al-Hassanain Construction (local): $20.5m (option 1); $20.83m (option 2)
  • Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company (US): $22.26m

  • Saudi Archirodon (Saudi Arabia): $46.18

MEED understands that Greek contracting firm Terna along with its Saudi partner Al-Saad Contracting submitted an offer but the pricing was not published by the Bahrain Tender Board.

Some 23 groups sought to prequalify for the project  last year.

Saudi Fund for Development is expected to provide the majority funding for the entire project.

It was initially understood that all bidders must have a Saudi partner.

The road project entails many components in addition to the reclamation package.

A subsequent tender is expected to be released for the construction of major roads, a signature marine bridge for the fourth Manama-Muharraq crossing, grade-separated interchanges and the installation of various services.
