Work is for the East Sitra housing development
The Housing Ministry has received technical bids for an estimated BD50m ($133m) contract for dredging and reclamation work on the East Sitra housing development in Bahrain.
The bidders are:
- Al-Moayyed Contracting (local)
- Boskalis Westminster (Netherlands)/Great Lakes Improvement Company (US)
- China Harbour Engineering (China)
- Jan de Nul (Belgium)
- Rohde Nielsen (Denmark)
- Vision Development Company (local)
The 15-month contract involves dredging 20 million cubic metres to create 3 square kilometres of new land for the East Sitra housing development. Once complete, the project will have about 4,000 residential units.
The ministry received prequalification documents from consultants for work on the project in late March.
