Bahrain seeks firms for road widening scheme

Client expects to receive bids by 17 January

Bahrain’s Works Ministry has invited firms to bid by 17 January 2018 for the contract to widen the Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway and improve its intersection with Sheikh Isa bin Salman Highway.

According to Bahrain’s Tender Board, the tender is open to Saudi Arabia-based contractors or joint ventures of Saudi and Bahrain-based contractors.

The scope of works includes the construction of an 800-metre dedicated high capacity left turn flyover to serve vehicles from the capital Manama to Isa town.

The works also include:

  • Provision for a collector road for the safe entry or exit maneuvers of Avenue 13 (Saar)
  • Widening of a section of Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway to five lanes from three lanes in southbound direction
  • Addition of a right turn ramp lane from the east on Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway towards the north on Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway

The scope also entails associated works such as road markings, signage, lighting, safety barriers, noise barriers and the provision of intelligent transport systems (ITS), utility diversions or protection, landscaping and storm drainage, among others.
