Contract covers reclamation work for the East Sitra housing project
The Housing Ministry has invited contractors to bid by 27 February for an estimated BD50m ($133m) contract for dredging and reclamation work on the East Sitra Housing Project.
The 15-month contract involves dredging 20 million cubic metres to create 3 square kilometres of new land for a housing development. Once complete, the project will have about 4,000 residential units.
The ministry received bids from contractors for dredging work in 2011 for dredging and reclamation work on the East Hidd and East Sitra developments. Three companies submitted, they were Boskalis Westminster of the Netherlands, China Harbour Engineering Company, and the US-based Great Lakes Improvement Company.
