Bahrain to inject $1.1bn into Gulf Air

Bahrain is to inject BD400m ($1.1bn) additional capital into its national carrier Gulf Air, Reuters has reported. A royal decree has authorised the finance ministry to raise the funds from local and international capital markets. The airline, which flew close to 6 million passengers last year, plans to break even in two to three years after recording a loss of $502m in 2009.
