Terror cell planning attacks on the Saudi-Bahrain causeway

A group of five Bahrainis have been arrested after being accused of plotting terrorist attacks on the island.

The Bahraini Interior Ministry said in a statement that the terrorist cell was planning attacks on the King Fahad Causeway, which links Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, an Interior Ministry building, the Saudi Arabia embassy in Bahrain, and on some individuals.

Four of the suspected terrorists were arrested in Qatar, where they gave information leading to the arrest of a fifth suspect still in Bahrain.

Qatar’s Security Authority detained the four suspects, who have since been transferred back to Bahrain, along with a laptop containing information on the potential targets, along with cash “a significant amount of cash in US dollars and Iranian rials”, according to the statement.

The suspects were on their way to Iran and were attempting to travel through Qatar and Syria.
