Local contractor will install 400kV and 220kV overhead lines
The local Bahwan Engineering Company has been awarded a RO42.9m ($111.6m) contract by the Oman Electricity Company to build an overhead transmission line from Izki to Sur in Oman.
The local contractor was awarded the contract towards the end of December and will install 400kV and 220kV overhead lines from Izki, in the Ad Dakhiliyah region, to the Sur independent power project (IPP), located in the Ash Sharqiyah region of the sultanate.
The project is the latest of several electricity contracts the sultanate has awarded over the past 12 months. In September, the Oman Electricity Company awarded the local Galfar Engineering & Contracting a RO10.3m contract to build a grid station at Ghala, Oman. The local contractor will also install 32kV cables in the Muscat governorate as part of the contract.
