The US’ Baker Hughes, now part of the US’ GE, has been awarded a contract to supply power generation equipment for the Halfaya oil field in the Maysan area of Iraq.
The US firm will provide power turbine generators, which will have a production capacity of 150MW, to Petrochina International Iraq, a subsidiary of Chinese state oil and gas company Petrochina.
The contract is the latest of a number of deals that Baker Hughes has picked up in Iraq. In July, the oil services firm signed a contract with Iraq’s Oil Ministry to reduce flare gas emissions and generate up to 200 million cubic feet a day of gas (cf/d).
