Bank Muscat bids low for waste advisory

The team led by Bank Muscatis low bidder at RO 5.2 million ($13.2 million) for the contract to provide consultancy services on the development of a national solid waste management strategy. According to the tender board, four bids were opened, with offers also coming from Germany's Fichtnerat RO 8.5 million ($21.8 million), Ernst & Youngat RO 8.9 million ($22.8 million) and the local office of Middle East Strategy Advisersat RO 9.7 million ($24.9 million). The selected team will be responsible for preparing a masterplan covering management of all types of waste not dealt with by the sewerage system and the government then plans to divide the country into districts and outsource the work to the private sector, for which the consultant will be required to draw up the necessary legislation.
