Gordon Smith’s resignation has been accepted by Bahrain’s state oil company
Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) has accepted the resignation of its chief executive officer, Gordon Smith.
The official, who previously worked for the US’ Chevron, will leave the company in February. Bapco chairman’s Adel Almoayye will take over Smith’s duties in the short-term, while a replacement is being found.
Bapco is about to begin work on a $6.5bn rehabilitation and expansion of its refinery complex at Sitra. MEED reported in late 2012 that the first engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts will be released in 2013.
