In the West Bay area of Doha, plans are being prepared for a financial centre that will involve the construction of nine towers and hotels. The local office of KEO International Consultants is the consultant.

A commercial avenue is planned to the south of Doha close to the industrial area.

The 11-square-kilometre

development will include shopping areas and an exhibition centre. Cansult Maunsell,

part of US-based Aecom, is

the consultant.

Barwa has also released further details of its Barwat Alkhoor development. The beachfront resort will cover an area of 5.5 square kilometres and

be located 45 kilometres north

of Doha and 25 kilometres

south of Ras Laffan. The development will comprise 24 residential components, a 125,000-square-metre retail centre and a golf course capable of hosting international

tournaments, surrounded

by villas. Once complete,

the development will house 62,000 people.

The first construction

package will be the earthworks, which involves backfilling 7 million cubic metres of material. Cansult Maunsell prepared
