Bel Hasa wins Green Community job

The local Bel HasaEngineering& ContractingCompanyhas been awarded the second package on the Green Community development project. Estimated to be worth AED 170 million ($46 million), it is the largest contract on the Dubai Investments Park project at Jebel Ali (MEED 25:1:02).

The package covers the construction of a total of 274 residential units, including 10 luxury villas, 61 family villas and 203 town houses. The facilities will take 18 months to complete.

The Green Community project will cover an area of 66.9 hectares and will have a built-up area of 3.4 million square feet. It will take 30 months to complete.

The project is being carried out in at least five packages. Up to 10 groups of companies have prequalified for each of the next two packages, estimated to be worth a total of AED 150 million ($41 million). Packages 3 and 4 cover the construction of 56 terraced apartments, a 150-room hotel, and four four-storey office blocks that will provide a total of 97,000 square feet of retail letting space.

The local Dewan al-Emara Architects & Engineers and Beirut-based Khatib & Alami are the consultants.

Wade Adams Contracting, also local, carried out the first package, covering site preparation and infrastructure development works, in a contract valued at AED 50 million ($14 million).

The client is Property Investments (PI), a 50:50 joint venture between Dubai Investments and Union Properties. It has paid-in capital of AED 50 million (MEED 22:6:01).
