Ben Ali backs laws to boost economy

Tunisia’s President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali has promulgated the 2008 finance law, during a meeting with Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi on 27 December.

The new law is being seen as a way to speed up the pace of investment in the country, as well as to boost exports and levels of employment. It should also help improve the general competitiveness of the economy.

Ben Ali has also promulgated a new law designed to improve the climate for businesses and encourage more companies to be set up, according to the Tap news agency.
