A bid closing date of 6 January has been set for the convention centre package on the Education City development. About eight groups led by international contractors are prequalified to bid for the 18-month contract, which involves the construction of a 7,000-seat convention centre with a built-up area of just over 100,000 square metres.
Bids are also due on 17 January for the contract to build the Texas A&M College of Engineering. Qatar Petroleumis managing both contracts on behalf of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science & Community Development (MEED 10:12:04). The project manager is KEO International Consultants.
