Bids awaited for Sohar pipeline FEED

Bids are due on 15 February for the contract to draw up front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies for the proposed 200-kilometre mixed feedstock pipeline to link the oil export terminal of Petroleum Development Omanat Mina al-Fahal with the planned Sohar refinery.

The prospective bidders are understood to include the local Parsons Oman Engineering Company, Mott Macdonaldof the UK, Granherne & Companyof the US and Tebodin Middle East, part of Tebodin of the Netherlands.

Mott has completed conceptual studies for the pipeline, which will supply the 125,000-barrel-a-day refinery with a mixture of crude oil for refining into middle distillates and long residues for cracking into ethylene. Oman Refinery Companyis the client. Total project costs are estimated at $150 million-200 million (MEED 17:01:03; 11:10:02).
