Bids due for Abu Dhabi corniche extension

Bids are due by 16 September for the second phase contract on the Abu Dhabi corniche extension project. Up to seven local and international companies are expected to bid for the estimated AED 450 million-500 million ($123 million-136 million) contract (MEED 22:6:01).

The prospective bidders include Joannou & Paraskevaides (J&P - Overseas) and Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC), both Athens-based, the local/Belgian Six Construct Abu Dhabiand ADMAK General Contracting Company, Bin Hafeez General Contracting & Transport Establishment and Al-Muhairy General Contracting Company, all local.

The scope of works includes extending the corniche by about six kilometres behind the Sheraton hotel towards Mina Zayed and the construction of three underpasses. The two-year contract also includes the construction of eight pedestrian ways, parks and related works.

Turkey's BM Engineering & Construction Company is carrying out work on the first phase extension of Abu Dhabi corniche under an estimated AED 180 million ($49 million) contract. The 18-month contract, which covers a 200-metre extension, includes 6.5 million cubic metres of dredging and about two kilometres of asphalting and road works. (MEED 16:11:01).

The consultant for the extension is the US' De Leuw Cather International. The client is Abu Dhabi Municipality.
