Bids in for Aramco lab

Seven companies submitted bids on 15 June to build phase 2 of the Saudi Aramcoresearch and development (R&D) laboratory in Dhahran, industry sources say. The estimated SR 300 million ($80 million) project will expand existing facilities as Aramco increases its focus on R&D.

Commercial bids are expected to be opened in early July and an award will be made later in the month. Work is slated to start on the 20-month project in mid August. The work will involve the construction of two new laboratory buildings alongside the existing laboratory. The contract will also include the supply and installation of R&D equipment.

The seven bidders for the contract are: Saudi Binladin Group, Saudi Oger, Nesma & Alfadland El-Seif Engineering Contracting, all local, the local/Lebanese Almabani General Contractors Company, and Consolidated Contractors International Companyand Joannou & Paraskevaides, both Athens-based.
