Nine local and international groups have submitted engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) bids to the local Ports & Shipping Organisation (PSO) for the Bushehr commercial port development project. PSO is also preparing to receive bids in the second week of January for a far larger contract, covering phase 2 of the Shahid Rajaee container port project at Bandar Abbas (MEED 22:10:04).

The major international contractors participating in the Bushehr tender are Belgium's Dredging International, Jan de Nul, also of Belgium, Japan's Penta Ocean Construction Company, Royal Boskalis Westminsterof the Netherlands and Van Oord, also of the Netherlands.

The project's scope calls for the construction of 410 metres of berths, dredging of an entrance channel and basin, reclamation of about 9 million cubic metres and construction of about 850 metres of breakwater and dykes. The client has estimated the value of the contract at $53 million.

PSO's consultant on both projects is the local Darya Sazeh Consulting Engineering Company.
