The local Oman Shapoorji Construction Companyis low bidder at RO 13.6 million ($34.9 million) for the contract to build a cultural centre at Sultan Qaboos University. The price is based on the full scope of works for the project. Contractors submitted two other alternative prices for the job based on a reduced scope. Six other companies quoted for the project, with prices ranging up to RO 18.4 million ($47.2 million). The full scope covers the construction of: four main buildings incorporating a 5,000-seater, multi-purpose hall; a library building; cultural centre; and reception hall.
