Nine firms line up for Haya Water contract
A total of nine companies bid for the contract to build a wastewater treatment plant at Darsait in Oman.
The bidders include Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Hyundai Rotem, Doosan Heavy Industries and Ssangyong Engineering & Construction Company, all of South Korea.
Bids were also submitted by Athens-based Consolidated Contractors Company, the local Galfar Engineering & Contracting, France’s Degremont, Egypt’s The Arab Contractors and the UAE’s Al-Nasr Contracting Company.
The client is Haya Water.
The winning bidder will design, build, operate and maintain the new 50,000-cubic-metres-a-day (cm/d) Darsait plant in Muscat. The contractor is scheduled to complete work on the project in 2011.
A 20,000-cm/d plant is already operating at the site.
