Bids in for Dubai marina tower package

Seven companies are understood to have bid on 16 March for the estimated AED 500 million-560 million ($136 million-150 million) contract to build a second batch of buildings on the Dubai Marina project.

The bidders are Arab Technical Construction Company (Arabtec), Al-Shafar Transport & Contracting Company, Al-Shafar General Contracting Company, Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises, United Engineering Construction (UNEC), and Al-Hamed Development & Construction- all local, the local/UK Al-Naboodah Laingand the local/Australian Nasa Multiplex (MEED 7:3:03).

The project - known as 7WX - covers the construction of towers ranging between 25 and 40 storeys, a five-level concrete podium, two-level underground car park and associated facilities. The work is expected to take about two years to complete.

A team of Nasa Multiplex and the UK/local Al-Futtaim Tarmac, which declined to bid for 7WX, is carrying out work on the first batch of six towers on the scheme.

The project manager is EC Harriswith Mace International, both of the UK. Emaar Propertiesis the client (MEED 7:2:03).
