Bids in for Hidd desal consultancy

The UK's Black & Veatch Consultingis low bidder at BD 1.3 million ($3.4 million) for the contract to provide consultancy services on the phase 3 expansion of the Hidd power and desalination complex. Six consultants from a list of 12 prequalifiers bid in early February for the work. Quotes ranged up to BD 3.8 million ($10 million - MEED 29:11:03).

The selected consultant will draw up designs for the installation of 60 million gallons a day of desalination capacity at Hidd. In addition to the installation of new desalination units, the third-phase project involves the construction of an extensive water delivery network and a 220-kV transmission station. The Ministry of Electricity & Water expects to make an award by the end of March.
