Bids in for interchanges

Dubai Municipality has opened bids for an estimated $100 million worth of new interchange work. Five contractors submitted bids in late June for the two 570-day contracts, which cover the construction of the Al-Safouh and Palm Island interchanges (MEED 7:5:04).
Dubai Municipality has opened bids for an estimated $100 million worth of new interchange work. Five contractors submitted bids in late June for the two 570-day contracts, which cover the construction of the Al-Safouh and Palm Island interchanges (MEED 7:5:04).

For the Al-Safouh contract, a joint venture of the local/Belgian Bel Hasa Six Construct and the local Bin Hafeez General Contracting & Transport Establishmentis low bidder at AED 178 million ($48 million), followed by the local/UK Dutco Balfour Beatty (DBB)at AED 186 million ($51 million). The interchange is to be built close to the Dubai Knowledge Village.

For the Palm island interchange, to be located on Sheikh Zayed highway, DBB is the low bidder at AED 190 million ($51.7 million), followed by the Saudi Binladin Group.

The consultant on both projects is the US' Parsons International.
