Bids in for Sabahiyah sanitary network

The local Boodai Construction Company is the low bidder for a contract to renovate more than 100 kilometres of the existing sewerage network in Sabahiyah, near Ahmadi (MEED 19:10:01, Construction).

Boodai's offer of KD 14 million ($45.1 million) is about 5.6 per cent lower than the next price of KD 14.8 million ($47.6 million) quoted by Integrated Contractors Group, also local.

Seven companies priced the three-year contract by the mid-November deadline. The consultant on the scheme is the local Gulf Consult, with the UK's Watson Hawksley. The client is the Ministry of Public Works (MPW).

MPW is evaluating bids for a second contract to renovate about 100 kilometres of the sewerage network in South Kheitan and Abraq Kheitan, near Kuwait International Airport.

The local Kuwait Arab Contracting Companyhas quoted the lowest price for the three-year contract at KD 5.7 million ($18.3 million). Its offer is some 7.1 per cent lower than the next price of KD 6.1 million ($19.6 million) quoted by Kharafi National, also local. Seven companies submitted bids by the 20 November deadline.

Binnie & Partners (Overseas), part of the UK's Binnie Black & Veatch, is advising MPW on the project (MEED 26:10:01, Construction).
