Bids in for Sohar pipeline

Eight groups submitted bids by the late March deadline for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract on the estimated $200 million Sohar mixed feedstock pipeline project. Commercial bids are expected to be opened in late April, once technical evaluation has been completed. The client is Sohar Gas Company(MEED 30:1:04).

The contract covers the supply and installation of a 24-inch-diameter, 260-kilometre-long pipeline to transport crude oil and naphtha from Mina al-Fahal to Sohar, where it will feed the proposed 116,000-barrel-a-day refinery which is under construction . The pipeline will tie into a pressure reduction terminal at Sohar, for which EPC bids were submitted by eight companies in mid-March (MEED 26:3:04).

ILF & Partners Oman, a subsidiary of ILF & Partnersof Germany, was the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contractor. Mott MacDonaldof the UK is the project manager.
