The committee set up to oversee the expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport has invited selected companies to submit proposals by 11 September for the project management consultancy (PMC) contract.

The prospective bidders are understood to include Turner International, Parsons Internationaland Bechtel, all of the US, and Australia's Bovis Lend Lease.

The move follows the decision by the government to amend the original plans for the expansion of the airport to accommodate the needs of Abu Dhabi-based carrier Etihad Airways.

The new committee, which was formed in mid-2004, has also begun evaluating prequalification documents for the contract to design the new terminal at the airport.

The original expansion design was drawn up by Aeroports de Paris (ADP- MEED 20:8:04).
