Bids invited for Hidd port infrastructure

The 86-week contract covers earthworks, pavement construction, drainage, water supply and other services. Port buildings are to be erected under a separate contract. The long-awaited infrastructure tender was delayed after the project attracted BD 37.2 million ($97.9 million) in funding from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), obliging the government to publicise more widely the prequalification notice (MEED 21:5:04).

A joint venture of the local AA Nass Contractingwith the US' Great Lakes Dredge & Dockis close to completing the dredging and reclamation work.

Indicative bids are due by 5 October from prospective operators of the new port and the existing port at Mina Salman (MEED 13:8:04).
