Bids were submitted in early July to Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) for three packages on the Khursaniyah transmission and distribution (T&D) project in the Eastern Province. For package 1, covering the turnkey construction of a 380/115-kV substation at Khursaniyah, the local/South Korean Middle East Engineering & Development Company (Meedco)is the low bidder at SR 185.6 million ($49.5 million). The local National Contracting Company (NCC) is the low bidder at SR 61.5 million ($16.4 million) for package 2, involving the supply and installation of a 50-kilometre-long, 380-kV double-circuit overhead transmission line (OHTL) from the 380/230-kV substation at Al-Fadhli to Abu Hadriyah. NCC is also the low bidder at SR 31.8 million ($8.5 million) for package 3, covering the installation of a 115-kV power cable from the Abu Hadriyah oil field and Fadhili manifold to Khursaniyah.
