Bids studied for Bu Hasa gas gathering project

20 October 2003
India's Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is understood to have submitted a low bid of about $30 million for a contract to upgrade the gas gathering facilities of Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Company (Gasco) at the onshore Bu Hasa oil field (MEED 19:9:03; 27:6:03).

Five companies have submitted bids for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract. L&T's offer is followed by Italy's Snamprogetti with a price of about $31 million. The three other bidders are Paris-based Technip, Clough Engineeringof Australia and Sharjah-based Petrofac International.

Known as the Bu Hasa facilities upgrade project (HUP), the EPC contract calls for the supply and installation of gas receiving units, a flare system, compressors and related pipelines at plant A's four boot-blower stations. The facilities will take about 18 months to complete.

Technip carried out the front-end engineering and design (FEED) package. The HUP project is aimed at handling the additional volumes of gas planned to be produced from the proposed Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco)facilities upgrade and reservoirs development project, under way at Bu Hasa. Snamprogetti is carrying out the Bu Hasa work under a $318 million EPC contract awarded in early September (MEED 5:9:03).
