Bids studied for Palm island corridor

03 October 2003
A close contest is in store for the proposed Palm island road corridor and access scheme. The local Wade Adams Contracting has submitted a low bid of AED 233.7 million ($63.6 million), some 0.3 per cent cheaper than the next price of AED 234.5 million ($63.8 million) offered by the local/Cypriot J&P National Wheel. Four companies priced the 18-month contract, which calls for the construction of two underpasses, each 470 metres long. The first underpass will be built in between interchanges 4 and 5 on Sheikh Zayed highway and the second will be constructed on the Al-Sufoh road. The consultant is the US' De Leuw Cather International; the client is Dubai Municipality.
