Bids studied for SAB HQ

The local Combined Grouphas submitted a low bid of KD 22.4 million ($74 million) for the contract to build a new headquarters for the State Audit Bureau (SAB) in Shuwaikh (MEED 20:6:03).

Its offer is some 5 per cent lower than the next price of KD 23.9 million ($79 million) offered by Real Estate Construction & Fabrication (Recafco), also local. Nine companies submitted bids by the 17 June deadline.

The contract calls for the construction of a 10-storey building, with a total built-up area of about 29,000 square metres, over 24 months.

The consultant is a team of the UK's John Bonnington Partnershipwith the local The Associated Engineering Partnership (TAEP). SAB is currently operating out of a rented building (MEED 12:1:01).
