Bids submitted for Al-Seef sewerage project

03 April 2008
Four companies have submitted bids for phase two of the Al-Seef sewerage and stormwater drainage scheme in Bahrain.

The companies, all local, are Habib Ali Awachi & Sons Contracting, Down Town Construction, Al-Hassanain Company and AR Mohammed Al-Banna.

Mohammed Al-Banna is the low-bidder with BD4.2m ($11m). The Ministry of Works is the client.

Bahrain’s Al-Seef area is currently undergoing significant development as a result of the Northshore development. In January, two sets of bids were submitted for the Al-Seef project, which is worth an estimated BD1bn in total.

Beirut-based Dar al-Handasah (Shair & Partners) is the low bidder for the detailed masterplanning for the project's infrastructure, with an offer of BD6.9m. The other bidders were the UK's Hyder Consulting and Scott Wilson, and Riyadh-based Saudi Consult (MEED 31:01:08).
