Bids submitted for Green Community project

Seven contractors submitted bids by the 12 January deadline for the main package on the Green Community development project. Estimated to be worth AED 400 million ($109 million), it will be the largest contract on the AED 610 million ($166 million) Dubai Investments Park (DIP) project at Jebel Ali (MEED 22:6:01).

The package will include the construction of about 15 luxury villas, 95 family villas and 236 town houses. It will also entail the construction of 254 garden apartments - 44 one-bedroom, 70 two-bedroom and 140 three-bedroom - and three seven-storey office blocks, which will provide a total of 97,000 square feet of retail letting space.

The Green Community project will cover an area of 66.9 hectares and will have a built-up area of 3.4 million feet. It will take about 30 months to complete (MEED 11:8:01).

The local Dewan al-Emara Architects & Engineers and Beirut-based Khatib & Alami are the consultants.

Wade Adams Contracting, also local,has carried out the site preparation and infrastructure development works, having been awarded a AED 50 million ($13.6 million) contract by the client, the local Property Investments (PI). PI is a 50:50 joint venture between Dubai Investments and Union Propertiesand has a capital of AED 50 million ($13.6 million).
