Kuwait Arab Contractors is the low bidder
Kuwait’s Public Works Ministry has received bids for the contract to upgrade Jahra road west of Kuwait City.
The local Kuwait Arab Contractors with Egypt-based Arab Contractors (Osman Ahmed Osman & Company) is the low bidder with a price of KD265m ($925m). The other bidders are the local Combined Group Trading & Contracting Company at KD294m, the local Boodai Construction Company at KD280m, the local Mushrif Trading & Contracting Company at KD370m, and Athens-based Consolidated Contractors Company at KD402m.
The winning bidder will build a 7.2-kilometre-long viaduct between Jahra Gate and UN roundabout, and all other associated infrastructure works in the area.
It will connect to Kuwait University, several hospital buildings, the Defence Ministry, Shuwaikh port and a number of other planned developments.
Several important streets cross Al-Jahra road, including the fourth and second ring roads, Ghazali street and the airport road.
The local/US team of Louis Berger International and Pan Arab Consulting Engineers (Pace) is the design consultant (MEED 30:7:09).
