More than 40 companies have prequalified to bid for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for four power stations with a total capacity of 3,000 MW. The project represents the first phase of a larger scheme to set up eight gas power plants across the country with a capacity of 6,000 MW. The client is Iran Power Development Company (IPDC - MEED 20:9:02).
The prequalifiers include Iran Power Plant Projects Management Company (Mapna), France's Alstom, Germany's Siemens, Italy's AnsaldoEnergiaand Marubeni Corporationand Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, both of Japan. Companies will need to submit their own financing proposals. Tender documents are available for purchase from 9-15 October and bids are due to be submitted by 15 December, says IPDC.
Phase 1 covers the 1,000-MW expansion of an existing gas power plant south of Tehran and the construction of one 600-MW and two 700-MW stations in the provinces.
