Blair told attack was brought forward

20 March 2003
Prime Minister Tony Blair was informed shortly after midnight GMT on 20 March that attacks on Iraq were being brought forward, a spokesman at 10 Downing Street has said. This was just over two hours before the air attacks were launched against targets in Baghdad.

Blair was told that 'attacks on a limited number of command and control targets were being brought forward' his Downing Street office said. The UK has some 45,000 troops deployed in the Gulf.
