Bloom Central development will be built on Airport road

Local developer Bloom Properties will tender construction contracts for a new mixed-use real estate project in Abu Dhabi in the next few months.

Bloom Central, which will be located on the airport road, involves the construction of a 315-room five-star hotel, 64 apartments, and 49 two- and three-bedroom residences. It will also feature 7,000 square metres of office space.

“The main construction contract is set to be tendered sometime in the summer,” says Hani Shammah, chief executive officer of Bloom Properties.

Contracts for the enabling works have already been tendered and is expected to start in June this year.

Bloom Properties has recently started work on another project in Abu Dhabi, the AED1.5bn ($408m) Bloom Gardens development, which will be located on the eastern side of the corniche.

The UAE and Italy joint venture, Emirates Link Maltauro is working on the first two phases of the development, which involves infrastructure and building work.

The development will be divided into three phases. Phase one is expected to be complete by the third quarter of 2011, with the second phase set for completion in the fourth quarter of next year. Contracts for the third phase of development are expected to be tendered by early 2011. The estimated completion date for the entire project is the fourth quarter of 2012.

The overall Bloom Gardens development will contain about 370 residential villas, associated facilities, and a Brighton College School.

The US architect Burt Hill is the consultant for the project.

Work is set to be completed on two other Bloom Properties’ residential projects this year. The Downtown Residence, a tower development in Abu Dhabi city, and Noor Residences, a set of 26 low-rise buildings in Al-Ain, are both set for completion in the fourth quarter of this year.

Bloom Properties is the property arm of the local investment firm National Holding.
