Authorities in Riyadh on 3 December arrested a man in connection with the suicide bombings of the Muhayya compound on 8 December, which killed 17 mostly Arab residents. 'Security forces located the hideout of one element of the terrorist cell that carried out the bombing at the Muhayya compound,' said a government statement on state-owned television. 'The search continues for other elements of this cell and others like it.' An Interior Ministry spokesman said that the man, who has not been named, had been detained by security forces in a residence in the capital. Authorities later found 38 kilogrammes of explosives in the hideout.

Riyadh has been fighting a high-profile war against domestic militants after co-ordinated bomb attacks against residential compounds in Riyadh on 12 May, which resulted in the death of more than 30 people (MEED 10:11:03).
