Construction contract awarded to Oman subsidiary of Carillion
- BP Oman awards $125m construction contract
- Work scheduled for completion in 2017
The UK-based Carillions Oman subsidiary, Carillion Alawi , has been awarded a $125m contract by British oil major BP Oman to build the operational base and accommodation complex for its Khazzan gas project.
The contract involves the construction of accommodation facilities, including an operational base, a residential complex and other infrastructure buildings.
Work is expected to start in September and is scheduled for completion in 2017.
The $16bn Khazzan tight gas scheme, located at Block 61 in north-central Oman, will have the capacity to produce 1.2 billion cubic feet a day (cf/d) increasing the sultanates gas capacity by about a third.
Construction on the gas export pipeline was initially expected to start in the first quarter of 2015 with completion set for the third quarter of 2016. This indicates an 18-month timeline that could be completed by Toco by the end of 2016.
