Biography: Brian Buckley was appointed general manager and CEO of Oman LNG (liquefied natural gas) in 2007. His role is to oversee the liquefaction, storage and exporting of Oman’s natural gas to its international customers.

From 2001 to 2006, he was production director for Nigeria LNG, where he oversaw the company’s growth from a small operation with capacity of 6 million tonnes a year (t/y) to a major player with capacity of more than 22 million t/y. Oman LNG began operations in 2000.

As head of the company, Buckley is responsible for a 6.6 million-t/y, two-train liquefaction plant at Qalhat. The company also produces and sells natural gas liquids (NGLs) in small quantities as a by-product. Earlier this year, it signed a long-term sale and purchase agreement to supply Oman Refineries & Petrochemicals Company with NGLs. More than half the gas Oman produces is exported to the Far East.
