Egypt’s Construction Authority for Potable Water & Wastewater has prequalified 10 bidders for a planned wastewater treatment project at 6 October City.

The prequalified bidders include Kuwait’s Mohamed Abdulmohsin Al-Kharafi & Sons; the local Orascom Construction Industries with Spanish firms Aqualia, Aqualia Infrastructure and Fomento de Construcciones Y Contratas; and the local Samcrete with Spain’s Inima and the local Icat.

Other prequalified groups include Japan’s Mitsui & Company with Mexico’s Atlatec; France’s Veolia Water; South Korea’s GS Engineering & Construction Corporation; and the local AAW Utilities with Spanish firms Befesa and Emasesa and the local Siac Industrial Construction & Engineering Company.

Spain’s Acciona Agua; South Korea’s Samsung Concessions; and Greece’s Aktor Concessions complete the list.

The winning bidder will finance, design and build a 150,000-cubic-metre-a-day (cm/d) wastewater treatment plant as well as operating and maintaining a 100,000 cm/d plant which is under construction.
