Ministry of Public Works appoints design consultants for road project

  • Canadian firm awarded design contract
  • Kuwait presses ahead with road projects

Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works (MPW) has awarded Canada’s WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff a major road project in Kuwait.

The contract involves developing concept designs to upgrade Kabd Sulaibiya highway in Kuwait’s Metropolitan area.

It also includes the preparation of tender documents and tender evaluation, followed by construction supervision.

WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff’s completed projects in Kuwait include package one of the Kuwait First Ring Road upgrade, where it provided design and construction supervision services.

Earlier this month, MEED reported that eight locally-based prequalified contractors were preparing to bid for three road projects being developed by Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works (MPW).

The three packages aim to construct and rehabilitate the 30-kilometre Al-Ghouse road, which is part of the country’s primary road network hierarchy. It functions as a major collector road distributing local traffic and running parallel to major roads including the Fahaheel Expressway (route 30) and King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz road (route 40).
