CCC set for Capital Towers

Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC)received a letter of intent in early June for the main contract on the Capital Towers development in Dubai. Valued at AED 450 million ($122 million), the contract will involve the construction of a twin-tower, mixed-use development on the Sheikh Zayed highway (MEED 9:6:04).

Eight contractors were competing for the 20-month contract. Other bidders included the local/South African Al-Jaber Grinaker LTA (Alec), the local Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises, Lebanon's Arabian Construction Company (ACC), the local/Australian Nasa Multiplex, Arab Technical Construction Company (Arabtec), also local, and Turkey's Tepe Akfen.

The contract calls for the construction of two towers on a four-storey podium, which will accommodate retail outlets, a ballroom, meeting rooms and a health club. The first tower, of about 32 storeys, will house a five-star hotel, with 160 guestrooms, and furnished apartments. The 39-storey second tower will contain 250 unfurnished apartments. The contract will also entail the construction of a separate 10-storey car park.

The architectural consultant is the UK's RMJM, while the project manager is the US' Hill International. The client is an Abu Dhabi investor (MEED 27:2:04).
