Cegco issues turbine tender

21 November 2003
The Central Electricity Generation Company (Cegco) issued on 13 November an international tender for an estimated $14 million contract to supply and install a 40-MW gas turbine for the Risha power plant in the east of the country. The deadline for bids is 24 January. The new Frame 6 turbine will be the fifth at the 144-MW plant, which receives its gas feedstock from the neighbouring Risha gas field.

Cegco has extended by two weeks the deadline for bids for the contract to build the new Kherbet al-Samra power plant. The new bid deadline is 4 December. The extension is the second delay in bidding for the estimated $180 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build the power project since a dispute over cooling water forced Cegco to rewrite the technical specifications for the 300-MW project (MEED 26:9:03). The project consultant is the US' Kuljian Engineering Corporation.
