China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) has been awarded the AED200m ($55m) contract for the civil and infrastructure works on the first phase of the White Bay development in Umm Al-Qaiwain.

The works include the reclamation of the development’s first island and the construction of a bridge connecting the island with the mainland. The work is expected to take 14 months.

Once complete, the development will have 8,000 units spread over a land area of about 2 million square metres. Facilities include a 190-berth marina, a canal and a health centre.

Emirates Sunland Group is managing the project on behalf of the client Al-Murjan Real Estate.
