China Harbour wins Yanbu waterfront work

China Harbour Engineering Company has signed a $100m contract for the dredging and excavation for a waterfront development at Yanbu on the Red Sea coast.

The two-year contract, signed on 23 July, was awarded by the Royal Commission for Jubail & Yanbu and covers the first and second phase dredging of the project.

The work includes the dredging of basins, swimming lagoons and channels, and the construction of beaches, bridges and offshore islands protected by a seawall.

In 2007, China Harbour won two contracts, totaling more than $1bn, to build port facilities at Ras al-Zour and Jeddah (MEED 9:11:07).
