Contractor was the lowest bidder when offers were submitted in June

Beijing-based China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) has been awarded the contract to build road access to the Dubai Hills development.

China State was the lowest bidder with a price of AED774m ($211m) when bids were submitted in June.

The interchange will be built on Umm Suqeim Road between Al-Khail Road and Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and provide access to Dubai Hills, which is being developed by local firms Emaar and Meraas.

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) is managing the tender and the construction.

The Dubai Hills scheme covers an area of 11 million square metres, and includes gated villa communities, a commercial centre and high-end retail facilities, as well as low-rise and mid-rise residences, hotels and serviced hotel apartments. There will also be schools, clinics, mosques and an 18-hole golf course.

The largest building project at the development is an estimated AED2.8bn shopping mall, the construction contract for which was awarded to Alec in early 2017.
