Chinese contractor takes Marafiq wastewater scheme
China’s Epure International has signed a letter of intent for a RMB562m ($82.4m) project to build a wastewater treatment plant with Saudi Arabia’s Power & Water Utility Company for Jubail & Yanbu (Marafiq).
Epure subsidiary Epure International Engineering is in the process of setting up a branch office in the kingdom.
The company will design, fabricate, install and construct as well as test and commission a wastewater treatment plant at Jubail Industrial City. The project is an upgrade of an existing sanitary wastewater treatment facility at the site.
The plant will have a capacity of 72,000 cubic metres a day and is due to be completed in 2011.
It is Epure’s first project outside China. The company is incorporated in Singapore.
