UAE developer Al-Hamra Real Estate has awarded a $150m construction contract to Beijing-based China Harbour Engineering Company for work on the Falcon Island development in Ras al-Khaimah.

The deal involves marine and infrastructure work, including dredging the canal and landscaping beaches, as well as work on power, sewage, and road networks.

Existing beaches at Al-Hamra Village will also be renovated as part of the contract.

Falcon Island is a residential development being built in Ras al-Khaimah. The project, which will include more than 150 waterfront villa units, private beaches, canals and parks, is expected to be completed by 2017.

In 2014, Al-Hamra Real Estate announced the appointment of Italy’s A2 Plus as the architect for the 150 villas on the island.
